News and Events – Myersville Farmers Market http://www.myersvillefarmersmarket.com My Farmers Market is in Myersville! Wed, 05 Nov 2025 20:39:19 +0000 en-US hourly 1 https://wordpress.org/?v=6.9.4 http://www.myersvillefarmersmarket.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/10/cropped-MyFMLeaves-32x32.jpg News and Events – Myersville Farmers Market http://www.myersvillefarmersmarket.com 32 32 2025 Merry Market Give-Away http://www.myersvillefarmersmarket.com/2025-merry-market-give-away Mon, 03 Nov 2025 20:41:49 +0000 http://www.myersvillefarmersmarket.com/?p=7540 Now in its third year, the Merry Market Give-Away began as an idea from Dry Branch Hollow to give back to the community that supports the Myersville Farmers Market and to help kick off the indoor season with a little extra holiday cheer. At each market in November and December 2025, we’re celebrating our shoppers by offering a chance to win local treasures from our talented farmers and artisans, all while supporting a meaningful cause.

How to Enter

Customers can earn raffle entries in two ways during the November and December markets:

  1. Pet Supply Donations – Bring any pet supply item to the market. Each market day you donate earns one raffle entry (donating on multiple market dates earns multiple entries; multiple items on the same day count as one entry).

    1. Consider donating pet food, collars, leashes, clothing, toys, etc.  No medications, sheets, blankets, or towels, please!
  2. Vendor Stamp Game – Pick up a game card from any vendor. Make purchases at different vendor booths to collect stamps. Customers who collect at least five stamps on a single market date earn one raffle entry.

A maximum of two entries per market day is allowed, for a total of six entries over the season.  All entries are subject to our official Contest Rules — please review before entering.

Raffle tickets will include your name, phone number, and email address. By entering, you agree to be added to the Myersville Farmers Market Community Newsletter (you can unsubscribe at any time).

Prizes

Each week, we’ll showcase a variety of festive prizes, from gift certificates to handmade items and specialty treats from our local vendors on social media.  Not all prizes will be spotlighted. Winners are drawn at random at 11 AM on December 20. You do not need to be present to win.

Prizes may be picked up at the market between 11:00 and 11:30 AM on December 20. Any unclaimed prizes after this will be available at Town Hall during regular business hours starting December 22. Prizes not claimed by January 2, 2026 will be returned to the market for a raffle in January 2026.

Holiday Giving with Pet Donations

This year, pet supply donations will go directly to Claudia Prather, a longtime supporter of our market and dedicated advocate for animals in need. Claudia will decide how to use the items — either personally for pets under her care or by passing them along to other animal support organizations. If Claudia has made a difference in your life, feel free to include a thank-you note expressing your appreciation.

Why We Give Back

The Merry Market Give-Away is our way of saying thank you for shopping local, supporting artisans and farmers, and helping build a thriving community. Your participation not only gives you a chance to win something special but also spreads generosity and cheer throughout the season.

Music by Mark Eastman brings a unique blend of strong vocals, along with guitar voicings  and a subtle use of electronic effects, into what many consider an enjoyable musical experience.

I cover a variety of genres and decades of music, from the 60’s right through some of today’s more popular hits.

With a focus on singer-songwriters, classic rock, folk, and a good bit of country thrown in, I’m sure to play something for every taste.

I have performed at venues in Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania (Poconos), Virginia, and West Virginia.

I am currently booking at bars, restaurants, wineries, breweries, corporate events, community picnics, and private parties.

I also enjoy entertaining the residents at assisted living facilities.

Food has always been at the heart of my home. For years, I found joy in making snacks and treats for my six kids and husband, watching how something as simple as a well-made bite could brighten their day. Cooking became more than just a routine—it was a way to express care, creativity, and connection.

As my children grew older and my home became quieter, I found myself drawn back to the kitchen with even more purpose. I wanted to keep pushing my creativity, exploring new flavors, and most of all, sharing my love for food beyond my own table. That’s how Golden Apple Treats began—an extension of what I’ve always loved, now reaching a little further.

Being part of the Myersville Farmer’s Market gives me the chance to connect, learn, and offer something meaningful through food. I look forward to sharing my creations with you!

I’m Chris DeFeo, and together with my wife Laura, we run DeFeo Family Farm. We both came to farming from careers in science and education. I’m a high school biology and environmental science teacher, and Laura is a health coach who works closely with Frederick Health on a variety of community wellness initiatives.

We started the farm just two years ago with the goal of improving the health of our community—by being trusted stewards of the land, offering access to local food, and sharing ways to creatively enjoy a wide variety of nutritious foods as part of a balanced lifestyle.

As a scientist, I’m especially interested in using soil biology and ecological systems to build both soil health and community health. We don’t use any synthetic herbicides or fertilizers.

We decided to join the market because we love connecting with people and supporting our local community in their wellness goals. We really enjoyed being part of the market last summer and are excited to be more involved this season. We also run a CSA subscription, an online store, and soon will be offering a mini-CSA paired with health coaching support. We’re located on Old Hagerstown Road in Middletown and look forward to seeing you at the market!

Experience Poutine at the Myersville Winter Farmers Market on February 20 http://www.myersvillefarmersmarket.com/experience-poutine-at-the-myersville-winter-farmers-market-on-february-20 Fri, 12 Feb 2021 01:29:20 +0000 http://www.myersvillefarmersmarket.com/?p=6417 Melty, meaty, cheesy, salty—poutine combines so many wonderful flavors and textures in one bowl, it’s hard to believe poutine is still an undiscovered treasure among most of the world, but on February 20 we’re introducing this classic Canadian dish of French Fries, gravy, and cheese curds to Myersville.

Poutine was invented in 1957 when a trucker asked Fernand Lachance to add cheese curds to his fries in Warwick, Quebec.  By the 1970s, Poutine had invaded the United States, and in New York and New Jersey, poutine was served as a late-night side dish at clubs, where they called it “disco fries.”  Now Poutine has finally made its way to Maryland, but remains authentically Canadian with the Pop-Up Poutine food truck.

Pop-Up Poutine’s co-founder Stephan Beauchesne came up with his own cheese curds and uses a sauce base imported from Montreal to create the best and most authentic poutine around.  This means you’ll be enjoying the real deal at the Myersville Winter Farmers Market with Pop-Up Poutine on Saturday, February 20.  Additionally, the Pop-Up Poutine food truck also focuses on Montreal smoked meat sandwiches, and savory puff pastry to complete your meal.

We have now moved inside the Myersville Volunteer Fire Company’s Banquet Hall, 301 Main Street, Myersville, Maryland 21773, due to colder temperatures, and the potential for inclement weather.  Protective face coverings are required, and social distancing and other pandemic response protocols are always followed.

The February 20 Myersville Winter Farmers Market will also feature artisanal soaps, seasonal produce, local honey, farm-fresh eggs, farmstead meats and cheeses, local wines, and much more!

Please join us on the first and third Saturdays of each month through April 3, 2021.  The purpose of these winter markets is to build awareness of the Myersville Farmers Market as well as to help our community to “eat healthy, shop local, and support small.”

Please help spread the word, and join us Saturday, February 20, from 9 AM to Noon, and each of the remaining dates throughout our winter season.  Here’s the full list of remaining dates (and participating Food Trucks):  March 6 (Grilled Cheese Please), March 20 (Pop-Up Poutine), and April 3 (Grilled Cheese Please).

March Market Update http://www.myersvillefarmersmarket.com/march-market-update Thu, 12 Mar 2020 18:43:38 +0000 http://www.myersvillefarmersmarket.com/?p=6081

The following notes were shared with the Mayor and Council of the Town of Myersville on Tuesday, March 10, 2020.

The 2020 Outdoor Season is less than 40 days away (39 to be exact.)
We still have 2 more Indoor Farmers Markets remaining.

We’re averaging 12 vendors per Indoor Market, including 2 veggie vendors, plus vendors selling eggs, honey, jams and jellies, local wines, and a few artisans.

Vendors are still responding if they plan to participate on March 21, but one of our new vendors, Good Gracious Gardens, will be there selling Spinach and garden transplants (plant starts.)

Our last Indoor Market will be on April 4.
There will be no Farmers Market Easter Weekend, April 11.

The 2020 Outdoor Season will open on April 18 and so far we have 23 vendors committed, including Whistle Punk Farm Food Truck who will be serving hot breakfast/brunch at the market each week.
(There are about 7 vendors who we assume will return but have not submitted applications yet.)

The market is always looking for additional fruit and vegetable/foods vendors, and some space is also available for crafters selling products not already available.
Applications are available on our website, myersvillefarmersmarket.com, for anyone who is interested.
For participation on Opening Day, your application must be received by March 27.
